Well it has once again arrived, the day of love and romance, and of course my brother Michael's birthday.
It's a day we're couples re-ignite those old flames and spend $150 on half a dozen roses or $25 for just the one. Well for me, i'm not much of a Valentines girl and i wont be celebrating it once again but for you old saps out there who are, i hope you have a wonderful expensive day.
If you havnt organised anything yet, and you've only now relaised that all the restraunts are fully booked out, here are a few helpful hints.
1. Midnight Picnic at New Farm Park (End of Brunswick Street New Farm)
All you need is a blanket, a few lanterns (you know those camper lanterns for light)
cushions, wine, and the food should just be tapas food...like turkish bread with olive pesto, sundried tomatoes and fetta cheese on toasted bread squares and some brie cheese
(The beach works a treat as well)
2. Mecca Bah (Foritude Valley, 1000 Ann St ( in between Wickem and Ann st)
Why this place? Well if you havnt been there before it's a middle eastern restaurant, Brisbane's Biggest Restaurant at the moment and they DON'T TAKE BOOKINGS so if you turn up early enough you'll get a seat. But i do mean turn up early cause this restaurant will do 400 covers a night and it only seats 200 at a time. However, the food is fantastic and the wine selection is even better and all food is under the price of $20.
I would say choose the Mezza, it's smaller portions but if you grab a few you have a great selection (my favourite chickpea crumbed mussles FANTASTIC)
3. MUNCHKINS (MT Mee, Dayboro)
Well If you like this idea you'll have to be quick as they're nearly fully booked for lunch and dinner. However, this place is the place for Romance. It's on top of Mt Mee in a old Queenslander styled Restauraunt. The Views are picturesque, absolutely gorgeous and the food is fantastic as well. You'll looking at general modern Australia food, steak, seafood, roasts as well as scones with jam and cream. The price is a little more than the other two options and expect to pay around $200 for the evening (thats eating and drinking generously), but i assure you , you will not be dissapointed.
